For large companies with many transportation orders and a high number of daily truck transports, it is important to maintain an overview of swap bodies, containers and trailers as well as their position and status.

The load carrier management for swap bodies, containers and trailers offers you the possibility of coordinated loading control within the company.

The movements of swap bodies, containers and trailers on the company premises are managed and documented as well as manual processes are replaced. Thus you always have an overview of the positions and loading status of the individual load means and benefit from transparent processes and real-time data.

The swap body management provides an even better overview when used in conjunction with our yard control system and our SAP-based load carrier and container management.

Use of the SAP warehouse management system for load carrier management on the premises:

  • Parking space and gates are mapped as storage spaces in the system
  • Transports on the site are mapped with transport orders
  • Differentiation of transport orders for different plants and specific status

  • The swap bodies/containers/semitrailers of the different freight forwarders can e. g. with shipping units, batches, equipment or a similar standard SAP object
  • Different characteristics of the load carriers can be mapped using characteristics in the classification (for material, batch, …)

  • Storage areas/storage types as physical places on the factory premises

All necessary data for the movement/delivery/collection of the load carriers are recorded in the system promptly. This ensures that the forwarding drivers record the swap bodies/containers/trailers brought or picked up in the system.

Forwarding agents can register in advance to take over or report back tours or bring and pick up load carriers with load carrier management.

With the control center monitor you have access to all relevant information via a work screen: all movements and open movements are displayed, changes can be made, e.g. manually setting priorities, etc.

The relevant and necessary data are shown to the employees via mobile terminals. These include e.g. transport order, possible load carriers, open transport orders and manual relocation of a load carrier.

The mobile terminals are connected to the SAP system via UMTS. The processes were carried out using WebDynpro for optimal display and simple operation in the vehicle.

  • Fitting the gates with empty swap bodies/containers/trailers
    Transports are created based on route planning and then processed as driving orders by the employee. The loaded means of loading are acknowledged on the political gate. Available loading equipment in the delivery area is preferred for optimization.
  • Loading and locking the swap bodies/containers/trailers
    The data for the respective load carrier are recorded by a scanner and the status is set to „to be picked up“. A transport order is automatically created in the background and the destination is determined, depending on whether further loading is planned or not.
  • Transport of swap bodies/containers/trailers
    The motion task is created depending on the destination. The load carrier is transported by the employee and acknowledged to the shipping point. The status of the load carrier changes. The location and status of each finished load carrier can be viewed in the system.
  • Collection of loaded swap bodies/containers/trailers
    If the carrier takes on a tour, the status of the load carrier changes: Swap bodies, containers or semitrailers are booked out of the existing site. The location of the load carrier can be displayed and printed out on the respective tour.

Empty load carriers or load carriers with returns must be recorded in advance in a transaction. In the background, a transport order for storing the swap bodies/containers/trailers is created, which the responsible employee carries out. The swap bodies/containers/semitrailers are automatically acknowledged to the displayed destination storage bins.

When creating the transport orders, different target storage bins are created in different storage areas for empty load carriers and load carriers with new goods/returns as well as for damaged load carriers. For returns or restitution e.g. a sales order with reference to the original sales order (new order type) or a delivery is created (with a new delivery type). It is possible to track repeated deliveries to customers as part of load carrier management.

Packaging aids are used in load carrier management e. g. managed via batches. If blankets, wood, etc. are handed over to a freight forwarder, the stock of these is reduced to the freight forwarder batch and recorded and booked when the goods are returned.
